The Kansas City Chiefs saw a lot of offensive and defensive linemen picked in mock drafts before free agency began. Then they went out and got RT Mitch Schwartz while also retaining DL Jaye Howard. That's left many mock draft picks to turn to the Chiefs next top need: cornerback.
SB Nation has been tracking 2016 NFL mock drafts from all around the Internet and the most popular pick that we see if CB William Jackson III. This is interesting because the Chiefs recently sent a high level exec to the Houston pro day, presumably to watch Jackson work out. He checks a lot of boxes and has been a popular Chiefs mock draft for a while. Pro Football Focus says he is the best cover corner in the draft which is exactly what the Chiefs need to hear. Add Jackson to the combo of Marcus Peters and Phillip Gaines and I think the Chiefs future of cornerbacks is looking pretty good.
The chart below shows the diversity in the picks. The most popular pick is "others" as in other picks not listed among the names below. About 30 percent of the mocks think it will be one of three CBs: Mackensie Alexander, Eli Apple and Jackson ... that would be fine with me.
