The Kansas City Chiefs were among several teams at BYU's pro day on Friday, and they were likely taking a closer look at defensive end Bronson Kaufusi.
Per Herbie Teope, the Chiefs held a previous meeting with Kaufusi during the NFL Combine, and he's by far the most NFL ready prospect coming out of BYU this year. In fact, NFL.com only has Kaufusi listed among BYU prospects.
SB Nation's Dan Kadar told me a few things about Kaufusi on Twitter on Friday.
@MattConnerAP He's good. 3rd round player. Probably best as a 3-4 end because of his length. Had surprising workout numbers. Plays w/ power.

@MattConnerAP Tends to get a little high, which you expect out of someone that height. Sometimes inconsistent effort. Older prospect.

Kaufusi impressed at this year's Senior Bowl, and those numbers backed up the strong grades in both run defense and as a pass rusher from Pro Football Focus. PFF had Kaufusi ranked No. 2 in pass rush and No. 8 in run defense among draft-eligible 3-4 defensive ends.
In 50 career games at BYU, Kaufusi had 26.5 sacks, including 11 last season. He also had 20 tackles for loss, 1 interception and 3 forced fumbles in 2015.
