Dolphins have talked to teams about trading for running back ... Chiefs included?

The Miami Dolphins have talked to teams about trading for a running back after missing out on multiple players in free agency, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. The Dolphins didn't re-sign Lamar Miller, missed out on the offer sheet to CJ Anderson who stayed with the Broncos and saw free agent Chris Johnson returning to Arizona.

Hmm, who has a wealth of talent at the running back position? I can't think of anyone ... hmm ... who has good backs ... Oh I know! The Chiefs!

The Chiefs should not be trading Jamaal Charles. We asked our readers if they would trade a second and a seventh to Miami for Jamaal and 68 percent said no. So let's move onto the backs behind him.

Charcandrick West is the one most similar to Jamaal's skills in that he's shifty and can catch the ball out of the backfield. Lamar Miller caught 47 passes in Miami last season so West is probably the closest one to that skillset.

Meanwhile, Spencer Ware would be an option. He's the 5'10, 230 pound heavy hitter who pounds the ball. I wouldn't want to trade Ware if it were for just a late round pick because his skills fit well as a complement to Jamaal.

There's also Knile Davis. He's been worked out of the Chiefs offense and works mostly on special teams now. Some teams might look at that as a positive because it means he has less wear and tear on him. Indeed, experience isn't always a good thing with backs. I would trade Knile for anything because I'm not convinced he makes the 53-man roster.

There's also the thought that the Chiefs shouldn't trade anyone. Why? Because look at what happened last year. They needed all those guys when Jamaal went down and the fact is Jamaal is nearing 30 and coming off his second ACL tear. It would also be prudent to hang onto all these backs in case the unthinkable happens again.
