Chiefs free agency: Brandon Carr could become available, again

Eight years ago the Kansas City Chiefs made a very smart decision by drafting a young corner out of Grand Valley State in the fifth round. Then Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards had made a name for himself around Kansas City with his ability to find cornerback talent.

Brandon Carr had terrific size at 6'0 and 210 pounds. Paired with his draft classmate, Carr and Brandon Flowers were a solid duo for four years. Carr hit free agency in 2010 at the perfect time and struck gold with a five year, $50 million deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

Fast forward four more years later and Carr could be available again. Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson is reporting that Carr is expected to be released by the Cowboys barring a pay cut.

Yes, I would love to have Brandon Carr back in Kansas City. He's exactly the type of guy you want in your locker room. Plus, he's a good player - it's about the money in Dallas - and has the size that the Chiefs like in their corners.

No, I don't expect this to happen for pretty much the reasons listed above: Carr is still a good player and someone will pay him like it. Maybe not $50 million but likely more than the Chiefs could reasonably fit under the cap. He's not the man corner the Chiefs are probably zeroing in on. The Chiefs have their own free agent corner to worry about in Sean Smith.
