NFL Draft 2016: Baylor's Xavien Howard looks like a corner the Chiefs might like

Baylor football's pro day going on could be of interest to the Kansas City Chiefs. Besides WR Corey Coleman, the Baylor Bears have an interesting name at cornerback for the Chiefs in Xavien Howard. He ran very well at the pro day and has a good shot to be around with the Chiefs 28th pick.

He ran a 4.58 at the Combine, which might attract more attention to him (or at least in the media). His size is almost identical to Marcus Peters at 6', 201 pounds and 31.25 inch arm length (half inch shorter than Peters). His NFL.com draft profile also looks similar to Peters with some of the boom or bust aspect to it. Also like Peters, it mentions Howard's terrific ball skills, which benefited Peters last season when teams targeted him over Sean Smith.

ESPN's Louis Riddick, who seems to like a lot of the players the Chiefs do and once worked with Andy Reid, likes him too.

4.38? Mission accomplished.

I found it interesting his comparison on NFL.com is ... Jamell Fleming. As in the corner the Chiefs just re-signed this week. The Chiefs like size and physicality at corner with the defense they play and they're looking to replace Sean Smith, who left for Oakland in free agency. Howard is one of the players Chiefs fans should keep an eye on.

A knock against him has been his physicality leading to penalties, which might be something that a HOFer like Emmitt Thomas and a former player like Al Harris can coach out of him. If he's the pick at 28...

Check out a scouting report here. Very interesting player to check out along with CBs Eli Apple and Mackensie Alexander.
