It's being reported my multiple outlets that free agent G Geoff Schwartz is visiting the Arizona Cardinals, who traded G Jonathan Cooper to the Patriots and also reportedly offered a deal to free agent G Evan Mathis recently. In other words, the Cardinals are doing some work on their offensive line.
Geoff Schwartz's visit to Arizona could put a real dent in our hope for an All-Schwartz right side of the Chiefs offensive line following the signing of his brother, Mitch.
Geoff went on 610 Sports with Danny Parkins and Carrington Harrison last week talking about Mitch's signing (listen to the whole thing here). There was also some talk about Geoff coming back to Kansas City. Here's what Geoff said when asked about playing with his brother in Kansas City:
"I don't know," Geoff said. "Free agency, you never know. Like I said, I said it here and I said it in the podcast, I liked my time in Kansas City. I liked everything about it. I liked coach (Andy) Reid, coach (Andy) Heck, the o-line coach. I never know ... free agency for a guy in my situation just takes time. So we're sitting back and surveying the scene and we'll see what happens."
Obviously there are two sides to this. Geoff is 29 and has played just 13 games in the past two seasons due to injury. The Chiefs have a number of guard options and not a ton of cap space. On paper, it's not a slam dunk. Ask any Chiefs fan though and they'll tell you guard is a need and they'll probably tell you Geoff was a good in KC three years ago. So we'll see.
As evidence that he's now healthy, Geoff gave us this:
