Chiefs' Andy Reid had second most coach of the year votes

New, comments

It was a good night for the Kansas City Chiefs at the NFL Honors show on Saturday night. Eric Berry was named the Associated Press comeback player of the year while Marcus Peters was named the defensive rookie of the year.

The Chiefs also had a coach of the year candidate. Andy Reid received six of 50 votes for the NFL's coach of the year award, which went to Carolina Panthers' Ron Rivera with 36.5 votes.

I'm really glad that Reid was recognized with the second most votes. We said all along that Reid won't win but he absolutely deserves to be in the conversation. Going from 1-5 to winning 11 straight games without your best player is incredible. I'm not sure there's another coach in the league that could do that (OK, maybe Belichick could).

Here's the voting breakdown:

Ron Rivera (36.5)

Andy uReid (6)

Bill O'Brien (2)

Mike Zimmer (2)

Gary Kubiak (1.5)

Bruce Arians (1)

Bill Belichick (1)
