Chiefs' Marcus Peters keeps getting rookie of the year predictions

New, comments

The NFL will announce the defensive rookie of the year award at the annual NFL Honors show this Saturday before Super Bowl 50. The Kansas City Chiefs will likely be paying attention because Marcus Peters looks like the favorite to win the award.

NFL.com had 16 of their analysts give their pick for defensive rookie of the year. Can you guess how many picked Marcus Peters? 14!

The other two votes went to No. 6 overall pick DT Leonard Williams and second round pick for the Buffalo Bills CB Ronald Darby.

This is very good for the Chiefs because cornerback is a premium position and because there's a nice streak of defensive rookie of the year winners continuing to become great players. The last five are DT Aaron Donald, DT Sheldon Richardson, LB Luke Kuechly, LB Von Miller and DT Ndamukong Suh.

Peters was also voted the defensive rookie of the year by The MMQB and the PFWA.

Tune in at 8 p.m. (Arrowhead Time) on CBS to see if Peters gets his hardware.
