Derrick Johnson is out with an Achilles injury, doesn’t look good

Update: Official announcement from the press box is he is out for the game with an Achilles injury

This one didn’t look very good. Derrick Johnson went down with what appeared to be a non-contact injury. He was trying to cut and went down. He threw his helmet to the ground. Andy Reid and the Chiefs trainers looked at him for a few minutes before he limped off under the help of trainers.

This would be a major loss. DJ missed the 2014 season with an Achilles’ tear and you’re hoping this isn’t something like that. He has slowed down a step this year but only a step. He’s still a damn good player who is a force in run support.

DJ is a veteran Chief having joined the team in 2005. He’s been with the team longer than Tamba Hali (2006) as a reference. This could be a big deal.

We will update when we know more.
