AFC playoff picture: Chiefs eliminated from No. 1 seed contention

The Kansas City Chiefs have been eliminated ... from the No. 1 seed in the AFC. With the Chiefs losing to the Titans, they are now two full games behind the Patriots for the No. 1 seed with two games to go. Even if the Chiefs won both games and the Patriots lost both games, the Patriots would own the common opponent tiebreaker and would still be ahead of the Chiefs. Thus, the Chiefs can not win the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

The No. 1 seed never really felt like a reasonable possibility because you knew the Patriots were going 14-2 or 13-3. The Chiefs are, however, still in play for the No. 2 seed. The Chiefs need help though. They need to tie the Raiders in the final two weeks which means they need to win and they need an Oakland loss.
