Tyreek Hill adds AFC special teams player of the week to his trophy shelf

Tyreek Hill was the first Chiefs rookie to win an offensive player of the week award two weeks ago. He followed that up with a special teams player of the week award this week.

The NFL announced the news that Tyreek is the AFC special teams player of the week recipient, along with this neat stat:

This award comes after his punt return for a touchdown last week against the Raiders where the crowd was chanting his name before the return. And he delivered.

What a perfect situation for him in Kansas City. Andy Reid knows how to use him on offense better than most coaches, Dave Toub is the best special teams coach in the NFL and Tyreek Hill is the fastest player in the NFL. All those things are true and they’re why Tyreek is in a perfect situation in KC.

This reminds me of what Chris Jones said after the game. He said he doesn’t know why teams still kick to him but “now they have a clue.” Indeed.
