Chiefs extra time off is the one benefit of playing on Thursday night

Most coaches and players are creatures of habit so they don't always like playing on a short week. It sounds like Andy Reid is among those people who don't like it all that much.

The Chiefs coach was asked about the one benefit of playing on Thursday night — the time off that follows.

Yeah, I would tell you just the fact that the players could rest up a little bit is a plus this late in the year,” Reid said. “I mean that’s one of the benefits with having a Thursday game. It might be the only benefit with having a Thursday game, but they get a few extra days here to rest up.”

The Chiefs players were in on Monday and will come in on Tuesday but they had some time off over the weekend. Having that mini-bye this late in the year can be a good thing for a team gearing up to stop one of the best rushing teams in the league this weekend.
