If you heard Andy Reid talk about Jamaal Charles, you probably wouldn’t think he’s coming back this year even though he is eligible to as early as Week 17.
“I haven’t even got that far,” Reid said on Friday after beating the Raiders. “I honestly haven’t even thought about that or gone there.”
However, two national reports indicate that there is a plan for Jamaal Charles this year if and when the Chiefs advance to the playoffs.
The first one came earlier this week from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
“Barring a setback, Charles will rejoin his teammates in January, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.”
The second one came Sunday morning from Adam Schefter of ESPN.
“There's a "very realistic" chance Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles will be back for the playoffs after undergoing surgery to clean up the meniscus in both his knees earlier this season, a source told ESPN.”
I’m skeptical how much he could contribute given how cautious the Chiefs seemed to be at the start of the season but Jamaal coming back for the playoffs would be incredible. Simply incredible.
