I talked with Danny Parkins and Carrington Harrison on 610 Sports about Derrick Johnson's future. Danny thinks this might end up being it for DJ with the Chiefs while I think he ends up playing in KC again.
For his part, DJ does indeed plan on playing again.
#Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson plans surgery for torn Achilles but doesn't expect injury to end his NFL career. "I will play again' he said.

He's 34 years old and one year into a three-year contract. He ruptured his Achilles in 2014 and came back and looked great in 2015. I will say this year it did appear that he lost a step. Still a very good player that helped the Chiefs but a step below the usual DJ we see.
Meanwhile, the surgery is happening on Saturday morning because, according to Sporting News' Alex Marvez, it gives him the best chance for recovery.
