This would be a good week for Chiefs to get Spencer Ware back

Andy Reid said Spencer Ware has a shot to play this week if he passes the concussion protocol, which he had not done as of Reid’s Monday press conference. This would be a really good week for Ware to come back. The Panthers are very good against the run.

The Panthers are 23rd in points allowed per game at nearly 26 points per game. However, they are one of the top run defenses at No. 3 overall against the run and No. 1 in yards per carry. The Panthers defensive line of Star Lotulelei, Kawann Short and others is clearly doing a good job.

If you’re wondering how this translates to the pass ... the Panthers are 29th in passing yards allowed. I’m not sure that’s a huge advantage for the Chiefs because they would rather be balanced than flinging the ball all over the place. The Chiefs aren’t good enough offensively to win when they’re one-dimensional. (I’m assuming another Chargers-type game isn’t coming). They need to be balanced, especially on the road against the defending NFC champions.

Andy Reid will talk to the media on Wednesday afternoon at which point we’ll get a better idea of his status this week.
