Jamaal Charles had surgery this week with Dr. James Andrews which entailed having his meniscus “trimmed”, according to Chiefs coach Andy Reid.
The question on everyone’s minds is whether Jamaal can return this season. The NFL’s IR rules allow a player to come back and play after eight weeks on injured reserve, which would be the final week of the season for Jamaal.
Reid was asked about that on Friday.
Andy Reid on whether Jamaal could come back this year: "I haven't even gotten that far. I can't tell you that."

I believe him that he doesn’t know. I also believe that the Chiefs haven’t said he’s out for the year so I’ll continue to believe his return is a possibility. Sure, maybe it’s a slim one. But a possibility nonetheless. I’ll continue to hold out hope that the guy who has run for more yards than any other back in the history of the franchise can come back for a playoff run.
