The Kansas City Chiefs technically picked Chris Jones in the second round but I’m going to pretend it was the first because that’s what he’s playing like. Jones is on a tear the past few weeks.
Pro Football Focus has him listed as the No. 5 rookie in the NFL so far this year. I haven’t seen all the other rookies player but I can attest to the impact Jones has made to a defensive line riddled with injuries.
PFF has this stat to put this his play over the past few weeks into perspective.
Chris Jones 20 total pressures over the last five weeks are the 2nd most of any interior defender #Chiefs

The only person with more? Aaron Donald, arguably the top defensive lineman in football (now that The Guy Who Almost Retired Because Of Eric Fisher is out for the season in Houston).
This is significant because this is what the talented Chiefs defensive line lacked. They were a good line but not getting enough pressure on passing downs. Jones is an obvious fix for that problem.
