Chiefs’ Tamba Hali became a full-time player again in the Broncos game

I remembered seeing a lot of Tamba Hali against the Denver Broncos on Sunday night but I didn’t realize just how much we saw of him. The NFL’s snap counts have Tamba playing in 83 of the Chiefs 84 snaps in the game.

If you have been paying attention to snap counts this year, that’s an incredible number. Almost unbelievable based on how they’ve used Tamba so far this year.

Tamba played 53 snaps agains the Jaguars a few weeks ago which was his previous high for snaps in a game. He played 30 more snaps (!) than that against the Broncos.

“He’s a guy, like he tells me – it’s never been pretty,” Andy Reid said. “He needs to get into the flow of the game and he says that’s a big part of his game. We wanted to help him out with that.”

Reid said that Tamba’s knee, which had been an issue this year, felt good and that this is the time of year when they can increase his reps, which is perhaps a hint that we can continue to see more Tamba as the year goes on.

“We’ve done this all along with him, just checking with him and seeing how he’s doing,” Reid said.

The goal was to get Tamba along with Houston primed up for the stretch run. With Houston playing 75 snaps, it appears that’s happening .
