The Kansas City Chiefs successfully ran the wildcat against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Chiefs were facing a third and one for the third time in the game. The Chiefs were stuffed the first time and threw an incomplete pass the second time. It was important they converted this one.
So what did they do? They lined Alex Smith out side and snapped it directly to Spencer Ware. And it actually worked.
Alex is lined up as a receiver. Ware lined up at quarterback with Tyreek Hill to his left and Travis Kelce to his right. Ware fakes the handoff to Tyreek and the Bucs front seven follows Tyreek.
However, Ware keeps it and trucks a fool on the way for a first down. A weird play call that actually worked. Who knew?
