The Tampa Bay Bucs are scoring 24 points per game which is good enough for 13th in the NFL. The Kansas City Chiefs defense this season has consistently held opponents below their season scoring average and I bet the Chiefs do that again on Sunday against the Bucs.
I was scanning the Bucs box scores so far this season when I noticed their point totals in games against good defenses. The Cardinals (3rd), Broncos (9th) and Panthers (23rd) are all good defenses. The Panthers stands out there but I think we would agree that they’re still a pretty good defense despite the ranking.
In those games the Bucs scored 7, 7 and 17 points, their three lowest point totals all season. Those are the three defenses they’ve faced most comparable to the Chiefs. They put up 32 points on the 10th ranked Rams defense so it’s not all bad but it sure looks like the beginning of a trend: the Bucs struggle against the best defenses ... which, yeah, you would expect.
Just a reminder that the Chiefs defense is on another level right now. If the Bucs turn it over five times like they did against the Cardinals or three times like they did against the Broncos, the Chiefs will run away with this one.
