Marcus Peters, Jeremy Maclin among those still out for Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs continue to work on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and they’re doing so without a few key players.

While Tamba Hali and Dontari Poe returned to practice, the Chiefs saw several starters miss practice for the second straight day on Thursday. Those who won’t practice again on Thursday include Jeremy Maclin, Jaye Howard, Marcus Peters and Derrick Johnson.

Maclin and Howard look shaky for this week’s game. They both missed last week’s game so this would be two in a row if they do miss Sunday against the Bucs.

Andy Reid indicated earlier that Peters, who is dealing with a hip injury, would probably be OK. He’s young but has played in a lot of games so he might be one of those guys that doesn’t need the whole week of practice to still play.

Derrick Johnson is in a similar boat as Peters. Reid said earlier this week they weren’t going to practice but offered some optimism on their chances for playing on Sunday when he said they’re both doing good.

The time to start worrying on these would be Friday when the final injury report comes out.

Not mentioned on this list? Justin Houston. He was a full limited participant. It’s looking like Sunday will be the day for him. (Editor’s note: The Chiefs injury report that came out later had Houston as a limited participant on Thursday)
