Chiefs sign free agent DL Jarvis Jenkins

The Kansas City Chiefs are already missing defensive lineman Allen Bailey and last week Jaye Howard didn’t play. This means the Chiefs need reinforcements along the line and Jarvis Jenkins, former Jets defensive lineman, is the answer. Jenkins’ agents tweeted out that he has signed with the Chiefs and others confirmed it.

Jenkins, 6’4, 300-pound defensive lineman out of Clemson, recently worked out for the Patriots. He was a 2011 second round pick by Washington. He’s also spent time with the Bears and most recently the Jets. He’ll offer some depth along the defensive line.

Is this signing bad news for someone else on the roster? The Chiefs will need to open up a roster spot. It could be another position but if they’re swapping out one defensive lineman for another, it’s worth looking at the d-line snap counts from Sunday. If your name isn’t Poe or Jones, you might have reason to be worried.

NT Dontari Poe: 62

DE Chris Jones: 45

DE Kendall Reyes: 35

NT Rakeem Nunez-Roches: 32

DE David King: 7
