The 3 positions the Chiefs could consider at the trade deadline (but won’t)

The NFL’s trade deadline comes this afternoon. I can’t imagine the Kansas City Chiefs will be active but if real life were a game of Madden, here’s what I would be thinking about....

Cornerback

If the Chiefs didn’t have any injury concerns I would probably stay away from a corner. I mean, if you’re going to give me Joe Haden, I’ll take him. But realistically, the Chiefs like their young players here. They want and need those young players to get playing time. They’re playing pretty well overall. The reason I think about this position is because of the injuries. DJ White is currently out and I’m not sure Phillip Gaines can be relied upon with his injury history.

Pass rusher

Who doesn’t need more pass rush? Send me Cameron Wake, sure! In KC, that means you’re either taking Dee Ford or Tamba Hali off the field. Additionally, we believe Justin Houston is close to returning. I would’ve preferred having this pass rusher discussion before the season when someone could’ve helped in the first half of the season. Assuming Justin Houston comes back healthy, which it looks like he hopefully will (please, Justin), this won’t be an area they address.

Wide receiver

Can you imagine Brandon Marshall on this team? No, I can’t either. The Chiefs aren’t even using Jeremy Maclin enough so never mind about adding another receiver. The Chiefs like Chris Conley’s development so I can’t see them adding a receiver and bumping Conley down. Tyreek Hill factors in here too.
