Chiefs expected to keep Justin Houston out against the Jaguars

New, comments

Andy Reid downplayed the idea of Justin Houston possibly playing this weekend for the Kansas City Chiefs as they host the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Reid spoke to the media on Monday and while he said Houston was making tremendous strides in practice he also said “it’s a stretch” to see him playing this weekend. He did add a “we’ll see” to that so maybe the door is slightly open.

The Chiefs don’t have to make the roster decision on Houston until next week. He’s not counting against the 53-man roster and by next week the Chiefs will have to activate him or put him on IR.

All signs are pointing to him playing at some point this year. We just don’t know whether that will be in two weeks or in two months. But it likely won’t be this weekend.
