On paper, Spencer Ware looks to be in line for monster day vs. Colts

New, comments

The fantasy football folks appear to be drooling over Spencer Ware against the Indianapolis Colts this weekend. Ware is having a terrific season with 777 yards from scrimmage, which is good for fifth in the NFL as we near the halfway point. The rushing stats have been nice (492 rushing yards) but it’s the receiving that has impressed me (231 receiving yards).

Rotoworld pointed out Ware’s production then wrote this about Sunday’s game against the Colts:

That’s really bad news for the Colts, a defense allowing the fourth most fantasy points to running backs. Indy is permitting 4.7 yards per carry and 119 yards per game.

Perhaps most alluring for Ware’s Week 8 is the fact that only the Falcons, Chargers and Steelers have surrendered more running back receiving yardage than Indy’s 372. With Jamaal Charles (knees) nowhere close to 100 percent health, Ware has carved out a one-man committee in Kansas City. The perfect alignment of role, volume and matchup, Ware is in line for another monster game.

It’s a similar formula as the past few weeks. Run the ball well, control the clock to keep the opposing offense off the field and play defense. Sounds pretty easy on paper, doesn’t it? The Chiefs have been doing a good job with the basics the past two weeks and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that continue this weekend (now that I’ve jinxed it, we can all start to get mad at Andy for getting too cute).
