Justin Houston watch enters its second week

New, comments

Week 2 of Justin Houston watch is upon us. The Kansas City Chiefs linebacker practiced for the first time all year last week and now the question is when he will be ready to play in a game.

Once Houston started practicing, he started the three week countdown. The Chiefs have three weeks since he came off PUP to decide to activate him and add him to the 53-man roster or put him on IR. Hint: They’re not going to put him on IR.

There was a report a while back that the Chiefs were looking at November as a target date. I was always guessing that the Chiefs would give him a few weeks of practice before he returns so November still looks like a good guess. Maybe it’s early November instead of late November. We shall see.

It’s possible things are going as well or better than expected because Houston practiced the first day he was allowed to last week. Andy Reid and Chiefs players said he looked good in that first week. Justin Houston is a freak. Did we expect him to look bad? No.

The Chiefs defense held two of the best offenses in the league to 10 points last week and 21 points on Sunday. This is without their best player. I’m feeling pretty good about things, aren’t you?
