Jamaal Charles in, Phillip Gaines out for Chiefs-Saints game

New, comments

The Kansas City Chiefs will have one key player and be without another in today’s game against the New Orleans Saints. The Chiefs have declared RB Jamaal Charles ACTIVE for the game while CB Phillip Gaines is inactive.

Jamaal popped up on the injury report on Friday with swelling in his knee, putting his status for Sunday in doubt. However, an ESPN report on Sunday morning said the Chiefs were optimistic he could play but would check him out in pregame. Apparently that check came back good. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him with a limited workload.

Meanwhile, Gaines tweaked his knee and is out again. His injuries are frustrating because the Chiefs are pretty young at cornerback. Facing a Drew Brees-led team isn’t ideal to be missing a corner but the Chiefs will have to manage.

All of the Chiefs inactives:

QB Tyler Bray

CB Phillip Gaines

CB Terrance Mitchell

LB Sio Moore

OL Jordan Devey

OL Bryan Witzmann

TE Ross Travis
