Chiefs’ Phillip Gaines inactive vs. Steelers, Jamaal Charles is active

New, comments

The Kansas City Chiefs list of inactives for the Pittsburgh Steelers game has a slight surprise as CB Phillip Gaines is inactive for the Chiefs. He is the Chiefs starting corner opposite Marcus Peters but tweaked his knee this week. We thought since he returned to practice on Friday (limited) that he would have a good shot to play. Apparently not.

I would guess this means that Steven Nelson slips into the spot held by Gaines and then DJ White moves up a spot. Also note that CB Kenneth Acker is active.

The Chiefs also say that Jamaal Charles is active which means he will make his season debut this evening. It’s pretty cool that Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell gets to be on the field tonight and watch the NFL’s best running back play. (Yeah, the trash talk is starting early).

The rest of the Chiefs inactives:

CB Phillip Gaines

QB Tyler Bray

WR De’Anthony Thomas

RB Charcandrick West

OL Jordan Devey

OL Jah Reid

LB Sam Barrington
