AFC West standings: Raiders, Broncos, Chiefs battling and then there are the Chargers

New, comments

No team has given up more yards this season than the Oakland Raiders defense but they have now won three in a row and find themselves in a tie atop the AFC West. With tiebreakers accounted for, the Raiders are actually the No. 2 seed in the AFC right now. That’s ... insane.

This is notable because the Kansas City Chiefs visit the Raiders this weekend in Oakland for a big matchup. Yes, a Chiefs-Raiders game is a big one for both teams for the first time in a while.

The Denver Broncos lost to the red hot Atlanta Falcons which is too bad. Just kidding. It was actually great.

The Chargers, meanwhile, found another way to lose. I’m actually starting to feel bad for the Chargers. They are finding ways to lose in incredible fashion. This time it was a botched snap on a field goal late in the game that would have put the Chargers ahead.

Through five weeks...

AFC West standings

Oakland Raiders (4-1)

Denver Broncos (4-1)

Kansas City Chiefs (2-2)

San Diego Chargers (1-4)
