Sounds like Matt Nagy is likely to be Chiefs next offensive coordinator, per Peter King

The Kansas City Chiefs are losing OC Doug Pederson to the Philadelphia Eagles and we noted recently that Andy Reid has several talented options on his offensive staff. There's spread game analyst Brad Childress, who has the experience as a former head coach but would probably want to call his own plays which he wouldn't do in KC. Running backs coach Eric Bieniemy has been called a star in the making by LaDainian Tomlinson.

And then there's Matt Nagy, the Chiefs quarterbacks coach. He's not as known as some of the others but it sounds like he's likely to be the Chiefs pick as offensive coordinator. This according to Peter King in today's MMQB.

"The Chiefs will have an offensive coordinator job to fill, and odds are that Andy Reid will tab quarterbacks coach Matt Nagy to replace new Eagles coach Doug Pederson," King wrote. "Reid, likely, will keep calling the plays."

Andy Reid did say on Sunday that his next offensive coordinator is already on the staff. Former scout John Middlekauff mentioned Nagy recently, too.

Nagy was a quarterback at Delaware in the late 1990s. He worked his way through some high school jobs, through the AFL before landing in Philly with Andy Reid as a coaches assistant in 2010. He became offensive quality control coach the next year and then came with Reid to KC in 2013 as the quarterbacks coach where he's been since. Read his Chiefs bio here and a Q&A with him here.

Andy Reid said recently that he doesn't expect to lose any assistants to Pederson.

"I don't think so," Reid said when asked about losing assistants to Pederson. "Starting back with Mike Holmgren, and Mike Holmgren with Bill Walsh, you always kind of check with the head coach on those things ... I don't foresee a lot of guys leaving to do that."

I'm assuming the Chiefs will make some sort of public announcement whenever there is a decision on the next coordinator now that Pederson's hire has officially been announced by the Eagles.
