Peter King predicts Chiefs over Broncos, John Dorsey for executive of the year

More and more people are starting to pick the Kansas City Chiefs over the Denver Broncos in the AFC West. (Absent from the division winner talk: San Diego Chargers).

Peter King of the MMQB is the latest to pick the Chiefs to win the AFC West. King's predictions, which you can read here, follow the six of the 13 NFL Network analysts who picked the Chiefs over the Broncos. Unfortunately for KC, the other seven NFL Network folks picked the Broncos.

King questions the Broncos ability to protect Peyton Manning with their offensive line. That's good news for the Chiefs whose strength is their pass rush.

The Chiefs should be able to harass Manning but we could have said the same thing last year and Manning beat KC twice. I know people are talking about Manning declining and I believe it a little more each year but the guy threw for 4,700 yards, 39 touchdowns and a 12-4 record. Peyton could throw for 4,500 yards and 35 touchdowns and technically it would be a down year.

Meanwhile, King predicts John Dorsey wins the executive of the year. Considering we've been talking about how deep the Chiefs are, this one isn't a bad prediction at all. Dorsey has been nails on the Chiefs roster cut weekends and churning the bottom of the roster. He is better at that than we've seen in some time. The Chiefs have also extended their own players that they like and re-made a significant portion of the roster in the two-plus years that Dorsey has been here. More than 40 players on this roster weren't here two years ago and the Chiefs have won 20 games in that time. A nod to Dorsey.
