The Kansas City Chiefs knew that putting a talented player on the practice squad was risky because another team could claim that player to their active roster. That's what has happened here as the Dallas Cowboys have reportedly signed DL David Irving off the Chiefs practice squad.

That means that Irving will hit the Cowboys 53-man roster for at least three weeks (or he'll be paid for at least three weeks). It sucks for the Chiefs because they spent the offseason developing him and thought enough of him to keep him on their 10-man practice squad. I thought Irving had some potential as someone who could develop his way into the defensive line rotation.
The Chiefs now have an open spot on the practice squad. And with the return of Sean Smith, they will soon need to make room on their 53-man roster.
