The Kansas City Chiefs welcome Sean Smith back from suspension this week and it sounds like the plan is he will jump right in as the starting cornerback. That's what Andy Reid told us in a conference call with the media on Tuesday afternoon.
"Let me just see how he does tomorrow," Reid said. "I'll know more once I see him run around. I would tell you yes, that's the thought (to have him start)."
Reid said that Smith will need a little time to get back into football shape.
"I know he's been working out like crazy so it's a matter of getting him into the football swing of things," Reid said. "Probably put him right back in and get him going."
I don't need to tell you that the Chiefs really need Sean Smith back, especially this week as the Chiefs face a hot Bengals offense that includes star WR AJ Green.
Meanwhile, there are no updates on the injury to Phillip Gaines. Reid told us it was a knee sprain but he didn't have any more updates than that.
