Derrick Johnson sets Chiefs franchise tackle record

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Move over, Gary Spani. Derrick Johnson is here.

The Kansas City Chiefs new all-time leading tackler is Derrick Johnson, who set the record on Monday night against the Green Bay Packers.

DJ was just five tackles away from the record entering Monday's game in Green Bay and he made it happen in the game, surpassing the previous record held by Gary Spani (999).

This solidifies DJ as one of the all-time Chiefs. We already knew he was but this franchise record cements him as one of the best Chiefs linebackers in history. I also think this gets him a spot on the Chiefs ring of honor.

Congrats to DJ!
