Odds say Jeremy Maclin won't have 1,000 yards receiving for Kansas City Chiefs

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Several months ago our guy Andrew Carroll wrote a piece on whether or not Jeremy Maclin would be a 1,000 yard receiver. Go read that post because it's really good and then check out the poll at the bottom -- 64 percent of folks said he would surpass 1,000 yards while 36 percent said he would not.

Bovada has released their over / under on Maclin's 2015 stats with the Kansas City Chiefs and they are ... under 1,000 yards.

Jeremy Maclin receiving yards: 900

Jeremy Maclin receiving TDs: 5.5

While I do believe that Bovada has great projections for Alex SmithJamaal Charles and Travis Kelce, this one seems a tad low, doesn't it? Dwayne Bowe had 754 yards receiving last year so that would be a healthy increase if Maciln could surpass 900 yards. Bowe of course had no touchdowns last year but the year before he had five and the year before that he had three. So, again, that would be an increase for Maclin to surpass five touchdowns.

We keep telling ourselves that Andy Reid's offense is built to have a superstar, and we're right. It's not. That said, it's conceivable that Maclin has 900-plus yards this season. Likely*, in fact.

*I can't tell if the Chiefs are just going to be better than most think or if it's September and homerism is creeping in. At least I'm aware of my bias? Yeah let's go with that.
