One more reason Derrick Johnson is an all-time Chief

Derrick Johnson's skills on the field are so great that the Kansas City Chiefs franchise won't be forgetting him anytime soon. Let's take just one minute to appreciate that DJ is as good a dude off the field as he is a player on it.

From Friday, July 31 to Wednesday, August 12, the Chiefs have one day off while spending the rest of their days practicing in the grueling Missouri heat. So what does DJ do with his day off?

On his day off Derrick Johnson is passing out backpacks to under privileged kids. Another reason why he is just awesome #chiefs

Many of the players use this day off to spend time with their families, but linebacker Derrick Johnson is using this time to give out more than 300 backpacks to children who need them.

"It's very important to give back to the inner-city kids here in Kansas City," Johnson said. "My passion is working with kids through education."

This is the second year for that backpack drive, and this year, they served double the number of students.

Students got a backpack stuffed with school supplies.
