Chiefs' Charcandrick West has a concussion

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

I don't know what the exact play it happened on but Kansas City Chiefs RB Charcandrick West suffered a concussion, according to the Chiefs. He is going through the NFL's concussion protocol. The Chiefs are back to practice this morning.

It will be too bad if West can't play in the preseason finale. I suspect he likely would have gotten plenty of work in that final game where Andy Reid usually sits his starters, including Jamaal Charles.

If West can't play during that game it could be a bit of an issue with Knile Davis and Darrin Reaves as the only backs that would be available to play (assuming Jamaal Charles isn't). And I'm guessing the Chiefs weren't trying to get Knile Davis a lot of work in the preseason finale.

It's really too bad if he can't play because West is having a strong preseason. He started training camp as someone on the roster bubble competing with Cyrus Gray. After Gray was cut and West continued his strong performance it became more and more likely he was making the roster. So expect him to be on the final 53-man.
