NFL roster cuts 2015 dates and times: News and rumors are on their way

The Chiefs 2015 NFL roster cuts are coming this week and we'll be tracking all the news and rumors. The Chiefs will also be creating their 10-man practice squad. We give you all the dates and times for the moves here.

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs roster cuts have begun with the reported release of TE Adam Schiltz and CB Kenneth Penny. The Chiefs roster was at the 90 player offseason maximum but they will be cutting that nearly in half by September 5 with the 2015 NFL roster cut downs.

The first 15 cuts can generally be easier than the next 22. The first 15 cuts will often include rookies and undrafted free agents that were long shots to begin with. It's the next round of cuts that gets a little hairy as the Chiefs prepare to make their first 53-man roster. Find the Chiefs roster right here.

The Chiefs position battles that I'm looking forward to seeing shake out are the sixth receiver spot where it seems Frankie Hammond and Fred Williams are battling. I want to see how right guard shakes out -- how will Jeff Allen and Eric Fisher being back affect this position? Do both Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and Zach Fulton make it? How many offensive linemen will the Chiefs keep? The Chiefs also have some nice competition at corner and safety. How many will they keep of each? And finally, who are the surprise cuts? We see one every year and we surely will this year.

In years past, I would count about 45 players that I liked and then have to fill in to get to 53. This year? There are about 55-56 players I like, which means the Chiefs are going to be cutting good players. That's a great sign for the depth the Chiefs have created. I can't remember them being this deep in so many positions. Go back just a couple years ago and the players the Chiefs cut weren't signed by other teams. This year that will not be the case. The Chiefs will cut players that will be picked up by other teams.

During those final cut downs, the Chiefs will also be assigning some players to injury lists. For example, is Tyler Bray an IR candidate again? Will Dontari Poe remain on the PUP list?

After the final cut downs, the Chiefs will be making a 10-man practice squad. That will be made up mostly of the players they just cut.

The cuts will be coming any time from now until next Saturday. Be on the lookout!
