Dee Ford's injury is a fractured rib, Chiefs coach Andy Reid says

Kansas City Chiefs second year outside linebacker Dee Ford was active early on in Friday's game against the Seattle Seahawks as he took Tamba Hali's snaps opposite Justin Houston. Unfortunately those good vibes didn't last all game as Ford was rocketed on a chip shot by Seahawks back Christine Michael, which caused him to briefly exit the game but he later returned.

The Chiefs listed Ford with a rib injury and after the game Andy Reid got specific.

"Dee Ford has what looks like a fractured rib but we'll see how things go here in the next day," Reid said. "But he took quite a shot there to the ribs."

I don't know what this means for Ford's playing time the rest of the preseason. He did come back to the game so that's encouraging. Tamba Hali doesn't need the preseason reps so this preseason is a big time opportunity for Ford to see more playing time.

I need to go back and review his snaps but I thought he was having a good game up until that point. There was one play where Ford skipped over a cut block and ran right at Russell Wilson who used his outstanding athleticism to roll out of the pressure and rush for a positive gain. Still, getting into the backfield and disrupting things is a positive and we saw some of that from Ford on Friday night.
