The Kansas City Chiefs have cut a receiver and signed a linebacker. WR Adam Drake, who was signed last week, is out and LB Ja'Gared Davis has been signed, according to the team.

Drake was always a long shot after coming in the middle of camp. Davis will likely be the same way but the Chiefs need some linebacker depth right now with a number of injuries. Linebackers Josh Mauga, DJ Alexander and Justin March are all injured. Another linebacker, James-Michael Johnson, just returned from the injury list. The Chiefs had this issue earlier but with receivers when a handful of them were injured. The Chiefs need a certain amount at each position just to conduct a normal practice.
As for Davis, his name sounds familiar because he spent some time with the Chiefs last year. He's also spent time with the Texans, Patriots and Washington since coming into the league as an undrafted free agent in 2013.
