Kansas City Chiefs have several preseason injuries, but they're 'not too serious'

WHEW! The biggest takeaway from the Kansas City Chiefs 34-19 preseason victory over the Arizona Cardinals was the handful of injuries the Chiefs suffered, especially to Jeff Allen. We can now breathe a sigh of relief that those injuries to Knile Davis (knee sprain),  De'Anthony Thomas (calf strain) and Jeff Allen (MCL sprain) do not appear to be serious. I didn't even notice the Eric Kush injury but that's just a shoulder bruise.

The Jeff Allen injury is the one that scared me. Seeing a big dude like that go down with a knee injury is just ... whew, I'm glad it was nothing serious, especially after he went down so early last season. Allen's versatility is key for the Chiefs. There are varying degrees of MCL sprains so we aren't clear exactly how long he will be out. The Chiefs will be cutting down to 53 players by September 4 so if Allen isn't ready by then his injury could affect how the roster is constructed.

While we're here, I will also note that Chris Conley did not play. He was injured July 29 and returned just last week so the Chiefs decided to hold him out for one more week.
