Chiefs preseason injury report: Who plays vs. Cardinals, who doesn't

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs plan to play their first team for a quarter while the second team will go the second quarter and into the third quarter with the third team then playing the rest of the game. What we don't know is who exactly will be playing.

The Chiefs injury report is lengthy for this time of year. You know about the big one with Dontari Poe, who continues to nurse his back after surgery and hopes to be back by midseason. He is on the PUP list.

The Chiefs are also missing Demetrius Harris, who has been out since offseason foot surgery. It's a shame he's not playing because I really wanted to see the Chiefs three tight end sets. There was a thought at one point he would be ready for training camp but he wasn't. So I don't know what the deal is here. He is on the PUP list.

Tyler Bray tore his ACL late last year and will not play on Saturday night. He is on the PUP list so he hasn't been practicing. He has been at practice though hanging with the quarterbacks. I can't see a way he makes the team so I don't know what his future holds.

Junior Hemingway and James-Michael Johnson have been out long enough that it's tough seeing them play on Saturday night. Mike Catapano and Dee Ford have been hurt in the last week as well so the same goes for them.

If Josh Mauga doesn't play, look out for rookie inside linebackers Ramik Wilson and Justin March. The Chiefs have had a hell of a time trying to fill that spot next to DJ since Andy Reid and John Dorsey came in. They thought they figured it out with Josh Mauga and now they have a couple of young players behind him they like. It's odd how a position can go from problem to depth so quickly.

Albert Wilson has had an illness and Chris Conley, who is not listed below, missed a big chunk of practice. I really hope both those guys play because the development of the Chiefs receivers is so important.

The Chiefs have NOT released an official injury report, so this list isn't official but it is all the injuries the Chiefs have going on right now. We will find out later today who is playing and who isn't.
