Good thing the Kansas City Chiefs spent a first round pick on cornerback Marcus Peters because Sean Smith is reportedly facing a three-game suspension for a DUI last summer.
NFL is suspending Chiefs CB Sean Smith 3 games after he pled guilty last month for DUI and received two years’ probation, per NFL source.

Yikes. Smith could be appealing this. NFL Network reports he will not appeal. This would mean Smith misses games against the Texans, Broncos and Packers. Yeah, those last two ... two of the best passing offenses in the NFL. That hurts. The Chiefs have rookie Marcus Peters along with Phillip Gaines at cornerback. Jamell Fleming and perhaps even Marcus Cooper will figure in there someplace, too.
I thought it would be two games but perhaps the fact that he was involved in a wreck and damaged a pole counted against him as NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports here.
Usual suspension for a DUI is 2 games, unless there are extenuating circumstances. #Chief CB Sean Smith hit a street lamp. Led to extra game

Smith is entering the final year of his contract after coming off his best season in the NFL. This won't help his 2016 free agency but he still has time to cash in.
