Tim Brown was a thorn in the Kansas City Chiefs side in the 16 years he played with the Oakland Raiders. Brown is preparing to go into the Hall of Fame this year (congrats to him) and he talked with the Raiders website about some of his memories.
Asked who reminds him of himself in today's game, guess who he mentioned? Jeremy Maclin.
"Jeremy Maclin is a guy, that early in his career, I really loved what he was doing. He sort of reminded me of myself, as far as being a guy who could return punts and run after the catch."
I like hearing that. While De'Anthony Thomas and Knile Davis are likely to handle the return game, the run after the catch will be very important for Maclin this year. I don't expect the Chiefs to start winging it deep every other play so creating plays that set Maclin up for a long gain after the catch is key to this Chiefs offense, and something that fits Alex Smith well.
Unfortunately for the Chiefs, Brown is also very excited about the Raiders rookie WR Amari Cooper, who looks to be a good one.
