The Kansas City Chiefs now have more than $8 million in available salary cap space after the Justin Houston contract. We looked at a few free agent options for the Chiefs but didn't mention this one: free agent TE Jermaine Gresham.
The former Cincinnati Bengals TE is coming off back surgery this offseason which is concern No. 1. If he's not healthy, then forget this entire thing. He has interest from the New Orleans Saints (who lost Jimmy Graham) and is reportedly set to visit the Arizona Cardinals (who have a really bad tight end depth chart) this week.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports he is expected to sign with a team before training camp.
Gresham could be the tight end with blocking ability that the Chiefs need. Travis Kelce is the Chiefs top tight end. That's not disputed. However, what's behind Kelce is a bit of a concern. Demetrius Harris is supposedly set to return for training camp after offseason foot surgery. James O'Shaughnessy is a rookie fifth round pick while Richard Gordon is a journeyman. The Chiefs never really replaced Anthony Fasano's blocking ability.
The Chiefs were very good in multiple tight end sets last year so I see tight end as a priority right now, even if it's just insurance against Harris' recovery and O'Shaughnessy's development.
I have no idea if the Chiefs are among the teams interested in Gresham. But they should be.
