Are the Kansas City Chiefs preparing for the Dee Ford era? Yes, they are. Chiefs LB Tamba Hali, who re-worked his contract to stay in Kansas City, spoke to Sirius XM NFL Radio and revealed that the Chiefs gave him some reps off this offseason in order to give more reps to Dee Ford.

"He has all the attributes to play the position," Tamba said. "They let me take a lot of reps off in OTAs and allowed him to get more reps under his belt. He's progressing. as far as rushing the passer, he has that. It's natural for him. It's a little technique here and there. In coverage he's picking it up so well. He's another smart guy. The transition hasn't been hard. He's fast, he's strong and he can run.

"He's like another Von Miller, one of those guys that's really small in the body in size but can still rush the passer at a high level and play in coverage. Dee Ford is doing well. He's going to prove it this year."

I have wondered how the Chiefs will handle the Tamba / Ford split this year. That they're splitting reps in OTAs suggests that we could see more Dee Ford this year than we did last. It's a difficult balance for the Chiefs, who are trying to prepare Ford for the future but also win games in 2015.
