Best and worst case for Kansas City Chiefs first quarter of the 2015 season

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

in the NFL, it's generally better to start fast rather than slow. Crazy, right?

The Kansas City Chiefs will have a tough road out of the gate with three of their first four games on the road and two of those games against two of the NFL's best teams last season in the Denver Broncos and Green Bay Packers. The other two games against the Houston Texans and Cincinnati Bengals are no cupcakes either, especially with both of them coming on the road.

Let's take a look at the best and worst case scenarios for the Chiefs start to the 2015 season.

Week 1: @ Houston Texans
Week 2: Denver Broncos (TNF)
Week 3: @ Green Bay Packers (MNF)
Week 4: @ Cincinnati Bengals

The Chiefs will have a mini-bye leading into their toughest game against Green Bay so while I think the game will be competitive most of us won't be picking the Chiefs to win this game. So a realistic best case scenario would be a 3-1 start to the season.

As for the worst case, that would be 0-4. But the Chiefs are a good enough team that I don't see 0-4 happening. However, 1-3 seems ... not that hard to believe. Mark the Packers game up to a loss. The Peyton Manning-led Broncos are 6-0 against the Chiefs so it's not a stretch to say Denver wins that game. And then how confident are you that the Chiefs can sweep the Texans and Bengals on the road?

This is July when optimism is very high so plenty of folks will be picking a 3-1 start for the Chiefs. I may even do the same as said optimism continues to grow.

What's your early prediction on how the Chiefs start the season?
