53 Good Men

It was time to present my 53 man roster roster prediction. Being prior to potential Training Camp injuries, possible Pre-Season Trades, and the to-75 Roster Cut shuffle September 1st things will surely change before "final" cuts to-53 on September 5th. *Starters in italics, the rest is in order of snaps this season.

Offense(25)

Quarterback - Four once again, Bray gets one more year, he has too much potential to pass on. Daniel and his high cap number may be traded or even cut if Murray preforms well in the Pre-Season.

  1. Alex Smith
  2. Chase Daniel
  3. Aaron Murray
  4. Tyler Bray

Running back - I do hope health is not an issue here.

  1. Jamaal Charles
  2. Anthony Sherman
  3. Knile Davis

Wide Receiver - Not very many but those 5 are sure things.

  1. Jeremy Maclin
  2. Albert Wilson
  3. Chris Conley
  4. De'Anthony Thomas
  5. Jason Avant

Tight End - I just don't think Demetrius Harris will be healthy. Anthony Sherman will play more of a TE role as well.

  1. Travis Kelce
  2. Richard Gordon
  3. James O'Shaughnessy

Offensive Line - Having so many linemen will ensure we don't repeat last year's disaster and we avoid potentially losing LDT to another team by not placing him on our practice squad. If Kush can't win starting center he probably won't make the team, and if anyone is to get traded I would bet its Jeff Allen.

  1. Eric Fisher (LT)
  2. Ben Grubbs (LG)
  3. Eric Kush (C)
  4. Jeff Allen (G/T)
  5. Donald Stephenson (T)
  6. Mitch Morse (C/G)
  7. Zach Fulton (G)
  8. Paul Fanaika (G)
  9. Derrick Sherrod (T)
  10. Laurent Durvernay-Tardif (G/T)

Defense(25)

Defensive Line - Pretty straight forward, hoping to see some RNR and Big Cat this year.

  1. Mike DeVito (LDE)
  2. Dontari Poe (DT)
  3. Allen Bailey (RDE)
  4. Jaye Howard (DE)
  5. Mike Catapano (DE)
  6. Rakeem Nunez-Roches (DT)

Linebackers - Only interest here is whether or not the rookie ILBs can beat Mauga out.

  1. Tamba Hali (LOLB)
  2. Derrick Johnson (WILB)
  3. Josh Mauga (SILB)
  4. Justin Houston (ROLB)
  5. Dee Ford (OLB)
  6. Ramik Wilson (ILB)
  7. DJ Alexander (ILB)
  8. Josh Martin (OLB)

Cornerbacks - Sean Smith will have to sit out a few games but we at least have some depth here. When Smith gets back Gaines will slide into slot and Peters will be on the outside in nickel.

  1. Sean Smith
  2. Phillip Gaines
  3. Marcus Peters
  4. Jamell Fleming
  5. Steven Nelson
  6. Marcus Cooper

Safety - I like the Chiefs defensive backfield this year.

  1. Ron Parker
  2. Hussain Abdullah
  3. Tyvon Branch
  4. Sanders Commings
  5. Kelcie McCray

Special Unit (3) - Necessity

  1. Dustin Colquitt
  2. Cario Santos
  3. James Winchester

Non-Football Injury (I think he can return to field on NFI)- Eric Berry, I think he will suit up this season.

Injured Reserve (Designated to return) - Demetrius Harris

Practice Squad:

  1. Kenny Cook WR
  2. Charcandrick West RB
  3. Da'Ron Brown WR
  4. Charles Tuaau DT
  5. Others

The final cut decision I had was keeping Marcus Cooper over Cyrus Gray. Ten linemen is probably one too many.

Bold prediction, Sean Smith will be traded just before the week 8 trade deadline.

Tell me how I'm wrong

Go Chiefs!!!
