We have seen 2015 NFL power rankings with the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of the Denver Broncos. We've seen insane power rankings with the Chiefs behind the Jacksonville Jaguars. We've seen them as high as No. 8 and as low as No. 21.
Now we have power rankings with the Chiefs as a TOP FIVE TEAM. This comes via Peter King of Sports Illustrated where he has the Chiefs ranked No. 4 in the offseason.
4. Kansas City (9-7). Two things must happen: making Justin Houston contractually happy and finding some answers in the passing game. I like most everything else about the Chiefs' ability to play in January.
Even the most optimistic Chiefs fan has to recognize that this ranking is really, really high. This would put the Chiefs ahead of the New England Patriots which ... well, I just don't think the Chiefs are ahead of the Patriots considering the Patriots are very good every single year. But you know what? The Chiefs could have the best defense in the NFL, a really good running game and they won't be turning the ball over very often. That combination can win games. I feel good about the way the Chiefs handled things this offseason.
The other head scratcher in this set of power rankings is the Minnesota Vikings are No. 6. Like the Chiefs, that seems very high.
