Chiefs' Rakeem Nunez-Roches was at his best against the best opponent

Our old pal Matt Verderame wrote a nice piece on the Kansas City Chiefs sixth round pick DT Rakeem Nunez-Roches out of Southern Miss. (Heads up: We're going to start calling him RNR for short). Matt compares him to Allen Bailey's career track which took a couple of years before it really took off. That would be the best case scenario for the Chiefs and their sixth round pick.

I wanted to tack on one more thing to Matt's very good piece about Nunez-Roches: He played one of his best games against one of the best teams in the country. Check out this chart from Pro Football Focus of his games, week-by-week:

That 6.4 rating came against Louisiana Tech but that's not the game I'm talking about. Check out his next highest score in Week 3. You know who that came against? The Alabama Crimson Tide. It's one game and they lost by 40 points, of course.

It's always a gamble when you take a player who didn't regularly play against the power five teams because of the difference in competition but it's encouraging that one of his best games last year came against a vastly superior opponent.
